Pelvic Floor Clinic (Urogynaecology)

The Pelvic Floor Clinic at the Women's provides multidisciplinary assessment and treatment for women with pelvic floor dysfunction.

Services available

Female pelvic floor dysfunction includes urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and lower bowel problems, such as difficulty with defecation and anal incontinence.

The Pelvic Floor Clinic is a multidisciplinary service with urogynaecologists, gynaecologists, a colorectal surgeon, continence nurses and physiotherapists. We provide a range of management options, from conservative management to surgery, and care for:

  • recurrent UTIs
  • bladder pain, frequency, urgency, nocturnia
  • fistulae
  • urethral structure, caruncles
  • voiding difficulties
  • interstitial cystitis
  • urodynamic assessment of urinary symptoms
  • outpatient cystoscopy for specific bladder problems.

Inclusion criteria

Any of the following:

  • urinary incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse that cannot be managed in primary care.
  • women who have birthed >6 months ago with acute healing issues or perineal pain (if <6 months, see Perineal Clinic).

Refer if the Women’s is the patient’s closest hospital with a women’s health service.

Urgent referral

Please mark your referral urgent if the patient has any of the following:

  • malignancy suspected
  • urinary retention
  • haematuria
  • descent of cervix outside introitus.
