The Menopause Symptoms After Cancer (MSAC) Clinic provides specialist multidisciplinary care for patients who experience troublesome menopause symptoms during or after treatment for cancer.

Services available
The MSAC Clinic has a specialist team of gynaecologists, endocrinologists and specialist nurses who provide a multidisciplinary approach to care. We offer advice on:
- medical therapies to alleviate menopausal symptoms
- lifestyle factors such as exercise and nutrition
- fertility after cancer treatment
- cardiovascular health
- bone health.
The MSAC clinic also works closely with:
- Parkville Familial Cancer Centre
- The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH)
- Bone Marrow Transplant Services (RMH)
- Reproductive Services
- Breast Service (the Women's and RMH)
Inclusion criteria
- Patients who experience troublesome menopause symptoms and who are undergoing or have had treatment for cancer.
- Statewide service – if patient is closer to Victoria's other MSAC service at Monash Medical Centre, please refer there.
Urgent referral
Please mark your referral urgent if the patient has:
- active GVHD.
For assessment or care due to concerning or deteriorating condition, please consider the most appropriate of:
- Royal Melbourne Hospital Rapid Bone Clinic
- Women’s Emergency Care

Referral instructions
Essential information
All referrals must include essential demographic, medical and social history details, and relevant information about the presenting complaint.

Investigations
- Details of cancer including type, hormone status, treatment, investigations and dates, and treatment team
- Consider hormonal tests (FSH and estradiol) if menopause is not clear on history
- If undertaken, include bone density, CST, breast screening

Appointments
Clinics are held on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Telehealth and face-to-face appointments are available depending on clinical requirements.
