Waterbirth Education Program

A simulation-based education program, provided by the Women's Maternity Services Education Program (MSEP).

The program provides maternity clinicians with the knowledge and tools to safely facilitate water immersion for labour/birth in their community.

It empowers midwives with the foundational knowledge to support practice to their full scope and advocate for birthing options.

Simulation options include:

  • normal vaginal birth in the water
  • emergency management (shoulder dystocia management in the water, management of the unconscious woman in the water etc).

Details

Format: 3-hour in-person workshop (including in situ birth suite simulations).
